Career
Ookami Mio's debut was announced on December 6, 2018, as part of the newly formed Hololive Gamers unit. At the time the unit had only two members: Ookami and 1st Generation member Shirakami Fubuki. Ookami was the first member to debut specifically for the unit, and she held her debut stream the next day. Hololive Gamers later added Nekomata Okayu and Inugami Korone. Her 3D model debuted on June 16, 2019.
On July 30, 2020, Capcom issued copyright strikes against her gameplay streams of Ghost Trick. In response, Cover Corporation took down every Hololive talent's gameplay videos that had been streamed without permission from the copyright holders. The company apologized for the mismanagement behind the infringement and the mass deletion of videos, and it promised to stream only games it had permission for. Ookami's activities were paused while this was resolved.
According to her character setting, Ookami comes from Mount Akagi in Gunma Prefecture. In November 2023, Gunma governor Ichita Yamamoto announced a collaboration with her at a regular press conference. The project was a series of promotional videos about the prefecture, including one where she meets the governor and the prefectural mascot Gunma-chan. The Mainichi Shimbun pointed to the unusually high view counts of the press conference and the videos as evidence of how popular VTubers are.
In April 2024, Ookami announced a hiatus for health reasons. The following month, Cover announced that she would not take part in Hololive Gamers Fes or Music Verse Fes. She returned to activity on June 30, 2024.
