Career

Sakura Miko debuted on August 1, 2018. She was scouted directly by COVER Corporation's CEO, Motoaki Tanigo. She became a VTuber after seeing Tokino Sora and Kizuna Ai. At first she was a solo talent working directly under COVER Corporation and was not formally part of hololive. In December 2018 she joined hololive as the main character of the short animated series Miko no Tsutome!. She was later placed in Generation 0 with other solo debutants: Tokino Sora, Roboco-san, Hoshimachi Suisei and AZKi.

In July 2020 she took a three-month break because of poor health. In April 2021 she became the 14th hololive member to reach one million YouTube subscribers. She was also the first Generation 0 member to do so. In 2022 she placed eighth in a survey by the app Simeji that ranked Gen Z's ten favorite VTubers. In January 2023 she released the song "Mosh Race" with Usada Pekora. In February 2023 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government named her one of 16 Tokyo Tourism Ambassadors.

In 2024 she released several songs. These included "Kyun Kyun Miko Kyun", written by the Vocaloid producer Kinoshita, and "Nyahello World". She released "Nyahello World" to celebrate becoming the sixth hololive member to reach two million subscribers. Her first full album, flower rhapsody, came out in September 2024. In October 2024 she placed 21st on Billboard Japan's Artist 100. In December 2024 a research paper published in the journal PNAS used her as an example. According to Stream Charts, she was among the three most-watched streamers in January 2025, with 5.13 million hours watched. She was later nominated for Content Creator of the Year at The Game Awards 2025, alongside TheBurntPeanut.
