Shirakami Fubuki

Shirakami Fubuki (Japanese: 白上フブキ) is a Japanese virtual YouTuber and singer affiliated with Cover Corporation's Hololive Production agency. She debuted in 2018 as part of hololive Generation 1 and has been a member of the hololive Gamers subgroup since December 2018. She is known for her daily game streams, especially tactical role-playing games, and is credited with popularizing several concepts within hololive, including its group-wide fanbase, its international fanbase and its daily streaming schedule.

Career

Shirakami Fubuki debuted on 1 June 2018 as a member of hololive Generation 1, alongside Aki Rosenthal, Akai Haato and Natsuiro Matsuri. When asked why she auditioned, she said that she was not good at speaking in front of people but wanted friends to talk with about the things she liked. In December 2018 she became the leader of the newly formed unit hololive Gamers, with Ookami Mio, Nekomata Okayu and Inugami Korone. She is unusual within hololive's structure because she belongs to both groups.

By October 2019 commentators described her as a leading figure among popular VTubers. She was also popular in China: in April 2019 she was the second-most subscribed VTuber on Bilibili. Bilibili users often posted the phrase "AWSL" in the scrolling comments on her videos, and the platform later named it its most-used buzzword of 2019.

Her music career grew from 2019 onward. In January 2025 she released her first album, FBKINGDOM: Blessing, which put her at number 58 on Billboard Japan's Artist 100 chart on 22 January 2025. In February 2025 she held her first solo live concert, FBKINGDOM: Anthem, at Pia Arena MM. She has also done voice acting. She voiced Geats Chemy in the 2023 film Kamen Rider the Winter Movie: Gotchard & Geats, and she has done voice work for a Sound Voltex game and the Zoids franchise.

Streaming style

Shirakami usually streams every day, and most of her streams are let's plays. She often plays tactical role-playing games and has played other genres too, including Ace Combat 7, Dead by Daylight, Forbidden Siren 2, Fortnite, Mario Kart 8, Minecraft and Splatoon 2. She has done Minecraft speedruns and Mario Kart 8 streams where the stream ends if she places below sixth. She also streams casual chats, drawing, karaoke, ASMR and radio-style programs. She is a fan of Fate/Grand Order and often mentions it on stream. A recurring character, Kurokami Fubuki, is described as sharing one body with her. Kurokami held her first solo stream in September 2019 and unveiled her 3D model at Fubuki's birthday event in November 2019.

Characteristics

Her official profile describes her as a white-haired, animal-eared otaku fox who loves talking with people. She is an Arctic fox, but viewers often joke that she is a cat, and she plays along. Her fan name comes from "sukon," a blend of the slang word "suko" and the fox sound "kon." Critics describe her as a versatile all-rounder with a competitive, play-to-win attitude. She is also credited with setting the pattern for hololive's daily streaming. In group concerts she usually takes the center position.
