Career

Mumei debuted in 2021 as part of hololive English -Council-, the branch's second generation, alongside Tsukumo Sana, Ceres Fauna, Ouro Kronii and Hakos Baelz. The debut was scheduled for 22 August but was postponed by 24 hours because of technical issues, which members jokingly attributed to the "EN curse". In the setting of the Council, her character is the Guardian of "Civilization", a concept created by humankind. Because she was not created by the gods, she was able to choose her own appearance and made herself owl-like, after the bird that symbolizes wisdom.

On 9 October 2023 she joined the hololive English -Promise- unit. In April 2025 she announced in a final stream that she would graduate from hololive, and her graduation is recorded as 27 April 2025.

Streaming style

Her content included watchalongs, the first being Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. She also streamed herself learning Japanese and Korean with Duolingo, held ASMR streams, made filler episodes and reviewed topics that interested her. Collaborations included a Minecraft stream with Takanashi Kiara, a Mario Party Superstars collaboration with Gura and Ame, and a Party Panic stream with Vestia Zeta and Kaela Kovalskia after their debut. Her first collaboration with a Nijisanji talent was an Overwatch 2 session with Watson Amelia and Selen Tatsuki.

Characteristics

Her character is described as cheerful, gentle and somewhat innocent, with a tendency to forget things. She can be shy and nervous during streams, yet she is also emotive. She is known for a hearty wheezing laugh and for humming or making bird-like sounds, which fans often described as "birb noises". Her name was also presented as a pun on an owl's call, and a tweet before her debut included an owl-related wordplay. Before becoming a VTuber she worked as a food delivery driver, a job she left because of the low pay and the stress.
