Career
VShojo, Inc. was founded in 2020 and based in San Francisco, California. It was the first major VTuber agency based entirely in North America. It called itself a "talent first" agency and gave its talents resources such as models, merchandising and advertising opportunities. During its years of operation it was generally counted among the three major VTuber companies, along with Hololive Production (hololive) and Nijisanji. In July 2022 at Anime Expo, the company announced a Japanese division. Its first members included Kson and Amemiya Nazuna.
Henya the Genius debuted as a new VTuber for VShojo Japan on May 13, 2023. Her debut came shortly after a change in the agency's roster: in late April 2023, Silvervale, Veibae and Nyanners said they would not renew their contracts. After Henya, several more talents joined VShojo in 2023. GEEGA joined in September, Kuro Kurenai, the agency's first male VTuber, debuted on September 30, and Matara Kan debuted on October 15. Later additions included Michi Mochievee in April 2024, the Japanese generation VShojo NOVA in November 2024, and AmaLee in January 2025.
On July 21, 2025, founding member Ironmouse left VShojo. She accused the company of withholding Twitch revenue from her, including about $500,000 that was meant to be donated to the Immune Deficiency Foundation. After this announcement, Henya was one of the members who publicly supported Ironmouse. Others who did so included Kuro Kurenai, Apricot, Hime Hajime, AmaLee and Michi Mochievee, as well as former members Zentreya and GEEGA. On July 23, 2025, Henya released a YouTube video confirming that she was leaving VShojo. The members of VShojo NOVA posted on social media after her. In total, every remaining VShojo member resigned within three days of Ironmouse's announcement. On July 24, 2025, co-founder and CEO Justin "theGunrun" Ignacio announced that VShojo would cease operations.
Activities
Streaming style
Henya was active as a VShojo Japan talent from her May 2023 debut until July 2025. She used YouTube as a platform and announced her departure from the agency there in a video. During her time with the agency she worked alongside both the English-speaking VShojo roster and the Japanese division, which included Kson and, from November 2024, the VShojo NOVA members Akatsuki Hotaru, Hestia Happiness, Okamoto Nagi and Yutori Peke.
Characteristics
Henya was one of the few talents who debuted directly as a new character in VShojo's Japanese division instead of joining as an existing streamer. This set her apart from earlier members such as Kson, who was already an independent streamer when she joined. Her public support for Ironmouse and her video announcing her departure placed her among the talents whose quick resignations led to the agency's closure in July 2025.
