Career

Takane Lui's YouTube channel, "Lui ch. - holoX -", was created on 12 September 2021. Cover Corporation announced her as a hololive talent in an introductory video on 26 November 2021. She was presented as a member of Secret Society holoX, the sixth generation of the main Japanese branch. Her fellow members are La+ Darknesss, Hakui Koyori, Sakamata Chloe and Kazama Iroha, and the group debuted between 26 and 30 November 2021 (JST). Lui's first stream took place on 27 November 2021. She opened it with the song "One Night Carnival" by Kishidan, and her manager reportedly scolded her for getting too carried away.

Shortly after her debut, on 2 December 2021, she streamed the horror game Outlast while trying not to scream. The first attempt ended after about six minutes, before the game had even started, when she knocked over a glass of water. Later attempts ended when she was startled by a flickering light and then by a corpse hanging from the ceiling. As the group's activities grew, she began appearing with both 2D and 3D models, and she later added a Twitch channel alongside her YouTube channel.

Activities

Streaming style

Her streams mainly consist of gaming, singing (karaoke) and chatting. She has said she enjoys the Final Fantasy and Ace Attorney series, and she plays horror games even though she scares easily. She speaks Japanese and Thai. At the start of her career she described her English as weak and said she was learning it, but she later became able to hold English-only chatting streams and perform tongue-twisters. She actively seeks to connect with overseas hololive members and international viewers.

Characteristics

In the holoX setting, Lui is the executive officer of the secret society and its de facto leader. She handles external affairs on behalf of the founder, La+ Darknesss. The character can seem aloof at first but is portrayed as caring deeply for her subordinates. Within the group she often plays a "big sister" role and reins in the chaos caused by her genmates. Her motif is a hawk, which places her among hololive's bird-themed talents along with Takanashi Kiara (phoenix), Pavolia Reine (peacock) and Nanashi Mumei (owl). Her official age is given as "1000+, stopped counting after 61".

She is fond of dad jokes. She likes spicy food, pickles and red wine and dislikes pointed objects, especially when they are pointed at her. Other hololive talents have often praised her cooking, and she also makes sweets. She has expressed a fondness for twins and was openly pleased when the twin duo Fuwawa Abyssgard and Mococo Abyssgard debuted. She has said her mother knows she is a VTuber, and that a school friend once recognized her voice from her streams.
