Career

On January 11, 2018, Ichikara Inc. announced that it was recruiting "Official Virtual Livers" to represent NIJISANJI, its iPhone X app. Shizuka Rin's Twitter account was created in January 2018, and her YouTube channel followed on February 1, 2018. She debuted on Mirrativ on February 8, 2018, and on YouTube on February 10, 2018. She was part of NIJISANJI's first group of eight Livers, along with Tsukino Mito, Higuchi Kaede, Elu, Yuki Chihiro, Shibuya Hajime, Suzuya Aki and Moira. Within that group, she formed the unit JK-gumi ("high school girl group") with Tsukino Mito and Higuchi Kaede.

Her first game stream after debut was Life is Strange. In 2018 she appeared in a video by PewDiePie, in which she sang "Country Roads." She was the second VTuber to be featured on his channel, after A.I.Channel. In May 2018 she reached a channel milestone and marked it with a live chat stream and a new key illustration. In September 2018 she took part in the VtuberLand NIJISANJI Days event. That same month she debuted her 3D model with a duet performance alongside Higuchi Kaede. In January 2019 she appeared at Higuchi Kaede's first live event, and she took part in several Niconico events over the course of that year. She also made a cameo appearance in the anime I'm Standing on a Million Lives.

Activities

Streaming style

Her streams focus mainly on games, with free talk and drawing as well. Games she has played include Dead by Daylight, Rainbow Six Siege, the Resident Evil series, the Far Cry series, Final Fantasy XIV, Dark Souls, PUBG, Undertale, Euro Truck Simulator, Outlast, The Walking Dead and Sekiro. Her streams often run for many hours, and she frequently eats snacks while live. She has said she aims to stream between 8:00 p.m. and midnight Japan Standard Time but often goes over. Because she streamed so often and at irregular times, a fan built a Twitter notification system to announce her broadcasts. She streams on YouTube and Twitch and has also used Bilibili, OPENREC and Mirrativ.
