Career
On January 11, 2018, Ichikara Inc. announced that it was recruiting "Official Virtual Livers" to represent its iPhone X app, NIJISANJI. Shibuya Hajime's Twitter account was created in January 2018, and he posted his first tweet on January 31, 2018. His YouTube channel was created on February 1, 2018.
On February 8, 2018, Hajime streamed for the first time in a relay with the other Virtual Livers on the Mirrativ app. He made his YouTube debut the same day. He debuted with the rest of the first generation: Tsukino Mito, Higuchi Kaede, Elu, Yuki Chihiro, Shizuka Rin, Suzuya Aki and Moira. Early in NIJISANJI's history, he was the first of its livers to begin live streaming on YouTube. Because the company offered limited support at the time, he also helped other first-generation members set up their streaming environments.
His earliest uploaded video was a stream of Getting Over It, and his skill at the game first brought him attention. At that time his character looked different, with rounder green hair and oval glasses. Later he went through a period of PUBG streams. Over time his channel passed several subscriber milestones, and he went on to collaborate widely with other streamers.
Activities
Streaming style
Most of Hajime's content is gaming and free talk. In his early days he often held chat streams to get to know his viewers. He also did drawing streams and played anime-based games such as Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. His later activity focuses on competitive and online games, including Apex Legends, Valorant, League of Legends and Arknights. His most-viewed videos include streams of Apex Legends and Arknights. Besides YouTube, he has also streamed on Twitch and TwitCasting.
Characteristics
According to his official profile, Hajime is a second-year college student who often stays at home. He was not good at talking to people directly, so he started streaming to overcome this. He likes anime, games and collecting merchandise. His character has dull lime-green hair tied in a ponytail with an ahoge, and light blue eyes. He wears a light blue jacket over a dark purple robe in a traditional Japanese style.
Hajime has an alter ego called Shibuya Owari, described as his opposite. "Hajime" means "beginning" and "Owari" means "end". Owari has a bold and stubborn personality but can also be gentle and empathetic. He usually appears while Hajime is gaming. Owari's favorite animal is the cat, "because it is cool". Hajime's fans use a sprouting seedling emoji to show support for him.
