Moira (Japanese: モイラ) is a Japanese VTuber affiliated with Nijisanji, where she belongs to the first generation of talents. She is known for her character as a goddess who claims to control destiny and who used to watch over the red thread of fate that connects mortals.

Career

Moira first appeared on January 31, 2018. She was one of the talents in Nijisanji's first generation, the first group of streamers the agency launched in early 2018. Because she debuted at the very start of the project, she is one of its earliest members. Nijisanji later grew into one of the largest VTuber agencies and opened overseas branches. Its English branch includes talents such as Pomu Rainpuff, Elira Pendora and Finana Ryugu.

Moira's lore says she began streaming from Heaven. Over the years after her 2018 debut, her YouTube channel steadily gained viewers. Later in her career she showed her 3D model for the first time in a special stream. During that broadcast she sang and invited other virtual talents to play games with her.

Moira's character is based on the Moirai, also called the Fates, of ancient Greek mythology. In myth, the Moirai control the thread of life and decide the fate and lifespan of mortals. Moira's version of this role is the red thread of fate, the East Asian folk idea of an invisible cord that links people destined to meet. She describes herself as a goddess who used to watch over this thread, and she claims power over destiny. Her divine, Heaven-based persona is the main theme of her character, and she presents herself as a gentle goddess.
