Avatar and Identity

During a September appearance on the Around The Bar podcast, he explained how initial streaming attempts started three or four years back as "a human VTuber" (translation: with a normal facecam). He made tutorial videos, posted gear breakdowns for Escape from Tarkov, and followed trends. None of it clicked. "Burnt" out and discouraged, he gave up for nearly a year.

They played Tarkov together one night (which TheBurntPeanut streamed), and the next day, he had a realization: My name is Peanut. What if I take this human VTuber model off and I just be myself, the Peanut? He stripped off that human "avatar" immediately and reemerged as the character that would change his trajectory completely.

VTuber Classification Controversy

His best VTuber win sparked controversy, as his status as a VTuber is up for debate, and a label that TheBurntPeanut himself rejects. At the 12-minute mark, TheBurntPeanut stated that he "makes fun of VTubers quite a bit," adding that he does not consider himself a VTuber and everybody knows I don't like being called a VTuber just because it's not the same thing.

The situation has also left the online community wondering if TheBurntPeanut considers himself a VTuber, after he referred to himself as a "PTuber" in response to his win at The Streamer Awards 2025. However, Twitch star Ironmouse has commented on the controversy surrounding TheBurntPeanut winning the Best VTuber Award at The Streamer Awards 2025. Expressing her opinion that the content creator "literally is" a VTuber, Ironmouse stated: "I don't get it... He literally is a VTuber. That literally is the definition of a VTuber, bro."

Controversies

Due to his sharp rise, some have accused him of botting viewers or being an industry plant. On the podcast, he explained that while he didn't always hide his identity, he started locking things down about eight months ago. That included paying professionals to scrub personal data and setting up fail-safes within his streaming software to prevent any accidental exposure.
