Career

NIJISANJI announced Lain Paterson on July 19, 2021, together with Axia Krone, Lauren Iroas, Leos Vincent and Oliver Evans. All five debuted on July 22, 2021, and became known as Eden-gumi. She was the only woman in the group. Her YouTube channel had been created in June 2021, ahead of the debut, and her first stream was her self-introduction. After a series of chatting streams, she held her first gaming stream with Fall Guys. Axia Krone later graduated from NIJISANJI, and Lain remains active with the other members.

Her character was designed by the illustrator lack, who also designed Shiranui Flare, Arurandeisu and Makaino Ririmu. Lain has taken part in reunions of lack's VTuber "children," including a group message to congratulate the illustrator on their marriage. As her channel grew, she reached several subscriber milestones and released her first cover song and an original song, "Burning charming." She has also appeared in agency events and tournaments and in a collaboration with a dessert buffet chain. A 1/7-scale figure of her is in development from F:NEX.

Activities

Streaming style

Lain streams mostly games, along with free talk, singing and ASMR. Early streams included Gang Beasts, Among Us, Papers, Please and Apex Legends. Later she played story games such as Blue Archive, horror titles, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, with viewer matches to prepare for agency tournaments. In NIJISANJI's GTA server events she played a law-abiding citizen and supported her fellow Eden-gumi member Lauren Iroas, who served as police chief. She also does cosmetics talk streams with fellow NIJISANJI talent Tsukimi Toshiro and posts dance short videos often, sometimes with other VTubers. She is a member of the unit Rorikoroll with Amamiya Kokoro and Luis Cammy.

Characteristics

Lain has long crimson hair in a high ponytail, with black streaks and blonde highlights, and silvery grey eyes. Her bangs cover one eye. Her original outfit is a green camouflage jacket, a white top, and dark shorts with suspenders. In the character's backstory a shark once saved her life, which is why she loves sharks. She has a girlish voice and a polite but somewhat clumsy personality, and she enjoys puns. Her opening greeting is "Konpata." Her listed favorite foods are strawberries, apples, coffee and alcohol, and she dislikes squid, shellfish, mustard and carbonated drinks. Her favorite games include Puyo Puyo, Tetris, dating sims, pachinko, mahjong and boat racing. Her skill at Puyo Puyo is the source of the nickname "Puyo Godslayer."
