Career

Kanade Izuru debuted on 22 June 2019 as part of the first generation of HOLOSTARS. The other members of this generation were Hanasaki Miyabi, Kagami Kira, Arurandeisu, Yakushiji Suzaku and Rikka. Cover Corporation started HOLOSTARS in June 2019 as a male VTuber group. In December 2019, the company combined HOLOSTARS, hololive and the INoNaKa music label under the Hololive Production brand. Izuru's stream after his debut was a showcase of his musical skills.

On 9 September 2019, he uploaded a cover of Eve's "Dramaturgy." It was his first song cover and also the first cover released by any HOLOSTARS member. In 2020, he received a new outfit for White Day (14 March) and took part in the "Virtual Clerk" exhibition. He later reached 200,000 YouTube subscribers, the fifth HOLOSTARS member to do so. He has also revealed further costumes, including an autumn/winter outfit. Besides his YouTube channel, he is also active on Twitch, Bilibili and TwitCasting.

Activities

Streaming style

Most of Izuru's content is about music. He streams karaoke and plays guitar on stream, and he releases cover songs on his channel. He also plays games, often Apex Legends with other HOLOSTARS members. More recently he has streamed horror titles such as the Resident Evil 2 remake, joined collaborations such as a first playthrough of Path of Exile 2 with other streamers, and played narrative games such as Coffee Talk. He also does chat streams and "marshmallow" streams, where he answers anonymous viewer messages. In these streams he is noted for giving thoughtful advice and for setting boundaries when necessary.

Characteristics

His official profile describes him as a young man trying to live on very little money. He has little else to do, so he treats housework as a hobby. The profile calls him a bit strange but a good person at heart. He tries to act cool but always remembers to thank people, and he loves singing and taking care of his guitar. His character design has black shoulder-length hair, lightning bolt-shaped hairpins, ear piercings, rings and dark purple eyes. His main outfit includes a black and blue zip-up hoodie, and his hood is often up.

His voice is described as husky and slightly nasal, which gives his singing a distinctive sound. He can also switch from a high-pitched tone to a deep, gangster-like voice. He is considered the HOLOSTARS member with the best English, although he can only follow simple comments. Izuru is in the unit RIZnote with Rikka and in Chibistars (officially translated as "Li'l Stars") with Kagami Kira and Astel Leda. As Chibistars, the three entered a VTuber tournament organized by Shibuya Hal and finished fifth out of twenty teams.
