Career

Inuyama Tamaki was created by Tsukudani Norio, a Japanese manga artist and illustrator best known for the otokonoko four-panel manga Himegoto, which was adapted into a series of anime shorts in 2014. The character was first introduced on June 1, 2017, as an original character for Tsukudani's fan club. Before he became a VTuber, he was used mainly in illustrations for merchandise and for her original CD. His themes reflect those found in Tsukudani's own manga.

The Tamaki YouTube channel was created on 30 June 2017. Tamaki posted his first tweet as a VTuber on 22 September 2018, and the channel began VTuber activity in late September 2018. Sources give either 22 or 29 September as the debut date. The channel grew quickly in its first months. In November 2018, Tamaki appeared in the KADOKAWA publication VTique Vol.2. He opened YouTube channel memberships in January 2019 and was featured in CustomCast Magazine Vol.01, also published by KADOKAWA, at the end of that month.

Tamaki started out as an independent VTuber. Tsukudani later founded her own VTuber agency, Tsukudani Norio Production (NoriPro), which she largely runs herself. Tamaki became its first member, and the agency's early lineup also included Shirayuki Mishiro. On March 17, 2020, a new 3D model was released that featured a maid costume. On 16 April 2021, Tsukudani announced her marriage to a company owner on Twitter under the Inuyama account. She also announced it in a livestream the following day. On 29 November 2021, Tamaki was announced as one of the VTubers appearing at the VILLS concert.

Activities

Streaming style

Tamaki's early videos were mostly chat streams. Some of them featured other VTubers, such as Aqua Minato and Sister Claire, and collaboration streams often included up to four participants. Collaboration is the core of his content, and he is said to have hosted more than 1,000 collaborative projects. A running joke on his streams is his "harem," which refers to how often he collaborates with others. His other content includes free talk, gaming, ASMR, drawing, cooking and singing.

In 2021, Tamaki started an interview series with other VTubers. Guests included Niu Miratani, Takanashi Kiara, Pavolia Reine, Airani Iofifteen, AZKi, Yukoku Roberu, Melissa Kinrenka, Nui Sociere and Anya Melfissa, several of whom belong to hololive and its sister groups. Besides YouTube, Tamaki is active on Bilibili, TwitCasting and Twitch.

Characteristics

Tamaki is a crossdressing boy with short silvery-white hair tied in two small pigtails, light golden-brown eyes and several small pastel bow-shaped hair clips. He has dog motifs, and his oshi mark is a dog and a blue heart. He opens his streams with a dog-themed greeting that calls viewers "Master." He is described as having a carefree, bright personality, and the character is said to reflect Tsukudani's own personality. In his character setting, "Norio Mama" (Tsukudani) orders him around, and he is always looking for someone who could become his mother. He is known as a skilled host but describes himself as poor at video games.
