Career
Tsunomaki Watame debuted on YouTube on 29 December 2019 as part of hololive's fourth generation. Her generation-mates were Tokoyami Towa, Kiryu Coco, Amane Kanata and Himemori Luna. The fourth generation debuted in late December 2019 and early January 2020, shortly after Cover Corporation brought its agencies together under the Hololive Production brand. Her channel, Watame Ch., was created at the start of December 2019, so it had gained more than 10,000 subscribers before she uploaded any content. In April 2020 her Live2D model received a small update that corrected the color of her neck.
On 21 and 22 December 2020, the fourth generation members, Watame among them, performed as the opening act of "hololive 2nd fes. Beyond the Stage." This was a two-day pay-per-view concert held in collaboration with Bushiroad. Kiryu Coco, one of her generation-mates, retired in 2021. Watame continued her activities after that and has also appeared outside her own channel, including as a main character in the hololive animated series Holo no Graffiti.
Activities
Streaming style
Like many hololive members, Watame streams a wide range of content on YouTube, including livestreams, singing and gaming. Her channel is described as focusing more on music than most of her colleagues' channels, which tend to center on video games. Her listed skills include singing, dancing and playing the harp, and her character's outfit includes a white and pink harp. She often eats potato chips during streams, and her viewers respond to the crunching with "Potato Chip ASMR" comments. She also produces comedic and collaborative content with other hololive members, including Towa, Kanata, Coco and Omaru Polka. Airani Iofifteen gave her the nickname "Watambe-senpai."
Characteristics
Watame's character is a sheep girl who claims to be four years old "in sheep years." She looks like a young human girl with a pair of dark, spiraling horns, purple eyes and long pastel blond hair with a small cowlick. Her main outfit is a white dress trimmed with fluffy wool, a pink and white cape, black, white and pink boots, and a brown pouch worn at the hip. Her character is described as a traveling bard who loves to sing.
Fans describe her speaking voice as gentle, mature and feminine, in keeping with her soft, fluffy sheep image. She also often makes exaggerated facial expressions, and her wide grin has become a recognizable trait that even appears on official merchandise. She often bobs and sways her head and body while singing. Fans and hololive members have compared her voice and laugh to those of illustrator and VTuber Shigure Ui, Oozora Subaru's character designer. Her other fan nicknames include "Wataoji" and "Watamelon."
