Career

Tenkai Tsukasa started out on June 2, 2018. His Twitter account, his YouTube channel and his self-introduction video all appeared on the same day. His character is a debtor who hopes to pay off his debts through VTuber work. He is a leading figure in BANs, a community of VTubers who have had YouTube channels banned. Fan wikis note that his channel opened right after an earlier VTuber channel with a similar look was terminated. About eight months after his debut, in February 2019, he made VTuber work his full-time job.

In March 2019 he helped out at Kashiko Mari's third live event, MARism Vol.3, at WOMB in Shibuya. On May 10, 2019, he was announced as one of the first two members of NIJISANJI Network, a support program for virtual talents run by Ichikara (now ANYCOLOR). The program ended on December 31, 2019, and he went back to being independent. Even during his time in the program, he produced his content on his own. In November 2019 he held his first solo live, "Tenkai Tsukasa no Kenran harevutai," at the opening festival of the harevutai venue in Ikebukuro.

He announced that he would focus on music from 2021, and crowdfunding for this raised more than 34 million yen. In March 2021, Hobby Japan published his official fanbook, "Ohakuzu," which looks back on his career through selected videos and interviews with VTubers and creators he has worked with. On July 17, 2021, he was announced as a member of Nippon Television's V-Clan. On October 1, 2024, ClaN Entertainment announced that it had become his sales contact for business and collaboration requests.

Activities

Streaming style

He streams most evenings, mainly chatting and playing games, and sometimes runs variety-show-style projects. His wider activities include planned events, mahjong, music and gambling-themed content. He has organized, hosted and commentated events, including the Shin'iki League, a mahjong league that includes professional players, and an academic test for male VTubers. Besides YouTube, he has also streamed on the game-streaming platform Mildom. He has held several "BAN Talk" collaborations, in which VTubers talk about manga they like. Usually at least one guest has not read the work yet, so viewers who haven't read it can follow along through that person's reactions.

Characteristics

His character is built around his debt: his official introduction describes a debtor who has openly given up on any realistic prospect of paying it back. He opens his streams with "Ohakuzu," which mixes a morning greeting with the word for "scum." He is a big manga fan, has read Weekly Shonen Jump titles such as "Slam Dunk" since elementary school, and gets very animated about the subject. His favorite artist is Mr.Children. His Poker Chase profile presents him as a heavy gambler who plays poker to pay off his growing debts.
