Career

hololive first teased ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! on 7 September 2026, during the first broadcast of hololive Next, a news stream for the agency. The unit has four members: Hyakuto Kyoko, Achichi Mela, Suzuna Tsuzuri and Sorashina Sopia. The agency describes it as a group devoted to the pursuit of fun that works out of a laundromat on the outskirts of town. In the unit, Sopia's role is described as "inspiration" (hirameki).

She debuted on 24 September 2026 as the second member of the unit. During her debut stream she took on a very hot sauce challenge and cited research papers on how to relieve the burn of capsaicin, while her heart rate went above 150 BPM. Part of the stream was structured as a lecture. She also listed her qualifications, which include a science doctorate, an engineering certification and a mathematics teaching license. Commentators pointed out the contrast between her cute, space-themed design and her academic background. On 25 September 2026, ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! released its first original group song.

Activities

Streaming style

Sopia introduces herself as a "virtual science idol." Her streams treat science as play rather than formal instruction, but she still uses lecture-style segments and cites sources when explaining topics. Observers have mentioned her English ability and the possibility of academic collaborations with other hololive talents. Her stream greeting is "Sopi sopi Sopia!" and she ends streams with "Otsusopi!"

SAWAGE★GURUGURU TIME! (騒げ★ぐるぐるTIME), the first original song by ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI!, released 25 September 2026

Characteristics

According to her official character description, Sopia is a self-proclaimed genius astronaut who loves science and wants to recruit friends for joint research adventures. Her partner is Dr. Kumamuu, a tardigrade-like alien who crashed his spaceship into a tree on Earth and explores with her while the ship is being repaired. Her surname, 宙科, is taken from the middle of the Japanese term for "space science." Her birthday, June 13, is the day the asteroid probe Hayabusa returned to Earth.

Her design has neck-length purple hair with a yellow underlayer, a star-shaped ahoge that looks like a question mark, golden-yellow eyes and hair ornaments shaped like satellite dishes. Her outfit is based on the top half of an astronaut's suit, with space and science motifs and a ray gun in a holster on her leg. Her Live2D rigger has also rigged several other hololive members, including Hoshimachi Suisei and Houshou Marine.
