Career

Shiranui Flare's Twitter account opened on 25 July 2019, and her YouTube channel was created the next day. She held her introduction stream on 7 August 2019. She debuted as part of hololive's third generation, hololive Fantasy, with Usada Pekora, Uruha Rushia, Shirogane Noel and Houshou Marine. The generation debuted between July and August 2019, during a period of fast growth for the agency.

On New Year's Day 2020 she revealed a New Year's outfit. Several other hololive members also received one, but she was one of the few who kept wearing it regularly after the holidays. The outfit received a small update on 15 July 2020. On 24 January 2020 she used her 3D model in public for the first time at "hololive 1st fes. Nonstop Story." This concert at Toyosu Pit in Kōtō, Tokyo, featured AZKi and all 22 hololive members who debuted before the fourth generation, and she performed in both her standard and idol outfits. The same cast returned for "hololive 2nd fes. Beyond the Stage," a two-day pay-per-view livestream held on 21 and 22 December 2020. By the end of 2020 she had also received a second alternate outfit.

In February 2022, Cover Corporation ended its contract with Uruha Rushia, which left hololive Fantasy with four active members. Flare kept receiving new outfits in later years. She debuted her fifth 2D costume, a nightwear design with a bunny-themed jacket, on 3 June 2024. On 11 August 2024, hololive Fantasy debuted a set of matching fantasy-world costumes, which became her sixth 2D costume. She has also appeared as a character in the hololive animated series Holo no Graffiti.

Activities

Streaming style

Her YouTube channel mainly features game playthroughs, singing streams and free-talk (zatsudan) streams. She also uploads song covers and collaborates with other VTubers. She is especially known for the buildings she has made in Minecraft and ARK. She has also held English-learning streams, which helped her reach viewers outside Japan. During streams she regularly takes time to read and thank viewers for Super Chats and messages.

Characteristics

Shiranui Flare's character is a half-elf with blonde hair, red eyes and a ponytail. Her mascot is a small creature named Kintsuba. When speaking she mixes standard Japanese with the Kansai dialect, and she has a distinctive laugh. Within her generation, and sometimes across hololive, she is seen as an "elder sister" figure: polite, dependable and supportive of fellow members, for example by leaving gifts for them on hololive game servers. Other members have praised her versatile voice and mature presence. She has also shown a more emotional and easily embarrassed side, such as during horror games. At hololive Fantasy's first anniversary stream, she said she wanted to become more confident.
