She made her streaming debut on 30 November 2021. In December 2021 her channel was approved for monetization, and later that month she opened channel memberships. The holoX debut came during hololive's international growth period, which also included the launch of its Indonesian and English branches.

Her character designer, Umibouzu, is also the original illustrator of the light novel series The Detective Is Already Dead. Through that connection, Kazama Iroha appeared as herself in the third episode of the anime's second season, which aired on October 21 and was streamed on Crunchyroll.

Characteristics

In her character backstory, Iroha comes from a remote mountainous region. She left home with a companion to see and learn about the outside world. She now does security and bodyguard work for holoX, which earns her enough to get by. Her official tagline calls her the organization's "insurance policy." Genmate La+ Darknesss has described her as a samurai, and her katana is named Chakimaru.

Her surname, Kazama, is written with the kanji for "wind" and "truth." In her debut stream she explained that the "ma" is the one used in "makoto," meaning truth. Her given name, Iroha, is written in hiragana and is made of the first three letters of the Japanese syllabary in its traditional order. She is often described as soft-spoken and playful but somewhat clumsy. She is known for insisting that she is a samurai, not a ninja, in lines addressed to overseas viewers. Her stated interests include singing, cats and udon. Fans also call her "Gozaru-chan" and "Iroha-dono."
