Career

According to fan wiki accounts, Kaburaki Roco had nearly given up on becoming a VTuber until she heard about the VTA auditions. She applied on the day they opened. On November 1, 2021, VTA launched its official YouTube and X accounts and announced the names and designs of its first-generation students, Roco among them. She held her first stream on the VTA channel on November 4, 2021, and posted her first message on X on November 8, 2021.

Other members of VTA's first group went on to debut in NIJISANJI as the units Ranunculus and VOLTACTION in 2022. On October 24, 2022, Roco, Kuramochi Meruto and Warabi Raika stopped their VTA activities, and their stream archives were made private. On January 16, 2023, ANYCOLOR announced that Roco, Ishigami Nozomi and Kuramochi Meruto would debut as NIJISANJI talents. Roco held her first NIJISANJI stream on January 20, 2023.

Her group debuted over January 19 and 20, 2023. It included Igarashi Rika, Koshimizu Toru, Ishigami Nozomi, Sophia Valentine, Kuramochi Meruto and Shishido Akari. Unlike Ranunculus and VOLTACTION, the group had no unit name or debut song at the time. It later became known as Idios. The unit announced its first mini album, "By Colors!", for release on September 3, 2025.

Activities

Streaming style

Roco mainly streams free talk and games in Japanese. She broke from the usual debut format: instead of a standard self-introduction, she presented her first stream as a company orientation for the amusement park she plans to run. For her pre-monetization party she read fan-submitted messages as mock Super Chats, an idea that started during her VTA streams. After her debut she often played well-known games she had little experience with, such as Minecraft, Pokémon Scarlet and Splatoon 3, so viewers saw her first reactions to them. She also hosts recurring chat streams where she reports on her sightseeing trips. She runs an hour-long morning chat stream called "Oharoco!" from 7 to 8 a.m., which includes a fortune-telling segment.

A well-known recurring segment is "Dealer Kaburaki", a casino dealer character. It first appeared in May 2023, about four months after her debut, in a stream answering listeners' problems. In this role Roco wears sunglasses, speaks in an affected, suave way and calls listeners "kitty". She first used dice to pick prepared answers. In later editions, held in summer and winter 2023, she used a slot machine that randomly combined answer phrases.

Characteristics

Roco's character is an 18-year-old first-year university student. She is looking for friends to help her reopen her favorite local amusement park, and on weekends she hands out leaflets in a mascot costume, though she has not yet found anyone to join her. Her design has blonde, medium-length hair in double buns and green eyes. One of her outfits is an artist costume with a pen tablet and paint-stained clothing. She is described as talkative and creative. She names Tsukino Mito, Kizuna AI and Hanabatake Chaika as the VTubers she admires most. She still treats the former VTA members in Ranunculus and VOLTACTION as friends and peers, even though they are technically her seniors.
