Career

Juufuutei comes from Fukuoka and speaks the Hakata dialect. She was in her high school's photography club. After discovering the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, she studied photography at a vocational school in Tokyo. She later moved to an art university, where she majored in photography, studied art history and earned a curatorial certification. During her studies she interned at a photography museum. She has said she first learned of hololive through the music video for "Shallys" by Aki Rosenthal. When she could not find work as a curator, she auditioned for Hololive as another way to share her love of art.

Her debut was announced on September 4, 2023, the same day ReGloss released its first song, "Shunkan Heartbeat." Her first post on X stated that she had 6,725 yen in her bank account. Commentators noted how different this plain statement was from her vocals on the song. Her first livestream, on September 10, 2023, was a 30-minute monologue followed by a 30-second introduction. She gave a proper self-introduction the next day. In her early streams she talked about alcohol, smoking and pachislot machines. Writers from KAI-YOU and Real Sound described her persona as unlike those usually associated with Hololive Production. Her channel passed 1 million subscribers on December 24, 2024, and she was later named to Forbes Japan's 30 Under 30 list.

Activities

Streaming style

Juufuutei often shares detailed information about museum exhibitions on X and discusses art in her streams. While playing horror games, she often identifies the architectural styles of buildings and explains their history. In January 2024 she streamed a collaboration with the Mitsui Memorial Museum. During a stream with Omaru Polka, the websites of the museums she recommended crashed from the surge in traffic. From July 2024 to January 2025 she provided an audio guide for an exhibition at the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, and she later took part in another exhibition there. In February 2024 she appeared on the Bay FM radio show BayFM It!! with the rakugo performer Shunpūtei Shōya. She has since become his unofficial apprentice and a semi-regular guest on the show. She also wrote a rakugo-influenced story for volume 7 of the manga Chainsmoker Cat.
