Career

Hololive's fourth generation debuted in late December 2019 and early January 2020. This was shortly after Cover Corporation merged hololive, Holostars and the INoNaKa music label into the single Hololive Production brand in December 2019. Luna's generation-mates are Tsunomaki Watame, Tokoyami Towa, Kiryu Coco and Amane Kanata. Luna first appeared on her X (formerly Twitter) account on 31 December 2019 and made her YouTube debut a few days later, on 4 January 2020.

On 15 July 2020, she teased her 3D model, and her 3D debut followed on 19 July. Her Live2D model got a major update on 19 December 2020. On New Year's Day 2021 she received her first alternate 2D outfit.

On 4 January 2022, during her second-anniversary stream, Luna premiered her first original song, "Zettai Chūsei Nano Nanora!". On 17 October 2022, the Japanese company Yamaha announced its second collaboration with her, the Electone "LUNA" Project. The goal was to create an Electone organ supervised by Luna, with input from her fans.

Activities

Streaming style

Luna streams many kinds of content, but gaming makes up most of her channel. She tends to prefer RPGs and older retro games such as Super Metroid and Dragon Quest V. She is regarded as one of hololive's strongest Dark Souls players. In her Dark Souls: Remastered series she finished the game without armor sets and with minimal enchantments, which led some viewers to call her the "War Princess" or "Battle Princess." She has also played the piano on stream. Besides YouTube, she has channels on Twitch, Bilibili and TwitCasting.

Luna often collaborates with other hololive members. She belongs to the group "Oozora Kensetsu" with Oozora Subaru and Natsuiro Matsuri. She is also part of "HoloBabies" with Sakura Miko, sometimes joined by Houshou Marine. In the "Magical Girl holoWitches!" project, she appeared alongside members split into two teams, astra and luster.

Characteristics

Luna's character is the princess of the Candy Kingdom, an otherworldly country. The moon-shaped accessories she wears represent the kingdom's crest. In her backstory she is sweet, innocent and somewhat pampered because of her royal status, and her butler scolds her when her childish behavior goes too far. Her official profile describes her as the youngest member of hololive. She is officially zero years old, but she has joked that she is three, since a baby of zero could not talk.

She speaks in a childlike way and often refers to herself in the third person. She used to end almost every sentence with the verbal tic "nanora." She has used it only rarely since 2021, a change she jokingly called her "Nanora Graduation." Underneath the cute persona she often shows a mischievous, competitive and teasing side, playing pranks on fellow members. When she gets frustrated in games, she is known for fast, rapid-fire reactions. Her design features pink hair that fades to blue and heterochromatic eyes in pink and green.
