Career

Hibachi Mana joined NIJISANJI as one of four members of the unit Oriens, alongside Akagi Wen, Usami Rito and Saiki Ittetsu. Oriens began activities on March 30, 2023, and the members held their first streams on April 2, 2023. Mana was the third member of the group to go live. His debut stream was titled as a "first step" toward becoming a funny person. In it, he presented a cover of "Wanted Wanted" that he had mixed, edited and illustrated himself.

His character is a struggling comedian. He believes his failures were caused by an evil force that takes away people's smiles, so he decided to become a hero. Oriens is paired with Dytica, a NIJISANJI unit that debuted on April 26, 2023. The eight members together form the group MECHATU-A, and Mana also takes part in the hero-themed collaboration group "Niji Heroes." Oriens has also released merchandise and voice dramas through the official NIJISANJI store. Mana later moved into 3D activities and has held a 3D showcase stream.

Activities

Streaming style

Mana streams mainly on YouTube. His content includes chat streams, game streams and cover songs, and Apex Legends is one of the games he plays. He is described as cheerful and talkative, sometimes chatting with viewers for hours until his throat gets sore. His fast-paced conversation with viewers is seen as one of the main appeals of his streams. He also uses his self-taught illustration and design skills on stream. He makes thumbnails for collaboration partners as a hobby and lets them use the images freely.

Characteristics

Mana's design shows him with blonde hair with blue streaks and bluish-yellow eyes. His default outfit is a white long-sleeved shirt and white trousers under a cropped yellow-and-blue collared shirt, with white sneakers and a black belt. An alternate fencing version adds a wide-sleeved white jacket and a rapier at his left hip. His image color is #64C8F0, and he shares a character designer with Asakura Shino of Neo-Porte.

He is described as a hard worker who prepares thoroughly before any performance. Besides singing, he mixes audio, edits video and draws illustrations, and he designed the logos for both Oriens and Dytica. His artist profile describes his singing voice as having a distinctive husky quality. It says his range runs from fragile, melancholic songs to intense tracks that use growls. He taught himself English and has passed Eiken Grade 2, which is roughly equivalent to CEFR B1.
