Career

Fumino Tamaki's YouTube channel was created on 8 March 2018, and she debuted on 22 March 2018 with NIJISANJI's second generation. Her generation-mates included Ienaga Mugi, Mononobe Alice, Kenmochi Toya, Morinaka Kazaki, Fushimi Gaku, Gilzaren III, Suzuka Utako, Ushimi Ichigo and Yuuhi Riri. Her first games were Mario titles such as Super Mario Maker and Mario Kart, but most of her early streams were chatting streams.

Her early months were full of technical trouble. In one livestream on 24 April 2018, she failed to start the stream five times because of technical issues and was crying by the sixth attempt. For months, her channel name also showed the same text twice, apparently by accident. These incidents earned her the nickname "Clueless Cat." In May 2018, throat problems made it hard for her to speak, which limited her streaming for a while. On 13 February 2021, a microwave near her bed fell on her hand during a strong earthquake, and a hospital visit confirmed the hand was broken. She has stayed active with the agency and has marked several debut anniversaries with commemorative streams.

Activities

Streaming style

Her streams are known for being random and can switch suddenly from karaoke to collaborations. Besides games and chatting, she makes self-deprecating joke content and joins many NIJISANJI group projects. Her bad luck in games gave her the nickname "Unlucky Cat." Well-known incidents include winning hundreds of boxes of potato chips that were then delivered to her home, and falling asleep on a live stream that still drew about 250,000 yen in viewer support. She has also dislocated her jaw on stream twice.

Collaborations and units

Fumino and Fumi: a duo with fellow NIJISANJI member Fumi
TamaNgo: a duo with Suo Sango
Nijisanji Team Rocket: a trio with Fumi and Nagao Kei

Characteristics

Fumino Tamaki's character is a stray cat with short brown hair, cat ears, bright green eyes and a tail. Her default outfit is a brown-striped hoodie and skirt, and she has received several more official costumes over the years. She talks in a soft, pleasant voice that contrasts with her whimsical humor. She acts like a cat on stream, guarding her "territory" and asking viewers for canned cat food. Her character can switch from cheerful to a jealous, vengeful persona, a change often marked by a balloon-popping sound effect. In 2018-era VTuber coverage, the professional cosplayer Enako cosplayed her, including a sign asking for canned cat food.
