Career

Debidebi Debiru debuted on YouTube on August 31, 2018. They joined NIJISANJI SEEDs as part of the second batch of the second generation. The same batch included Rindou Mikoto, Sakura Ritsuki, Machita Chima, Joe Rikiichi, Tsukimi Shizuku and Achikita Chinami. Their first post on Twitter said in Japanese that "the door to the other world has opened." It matched the character's lore as a being who came from another world. Their first YouTube upload was an introduction video for the character.

The SEEDs line was later merged into the main NIJISANJI branding, and Debidebi Debiru is now listed as a NIJISANJI member. Besides YouTube, they also have channels on Bilibili, Niconico and Mirrativ.

Activities

Streaming style

Their content is mainly free talk, gaming and singing. In the character's lore, Debidebi Debiru is a demon from an alternate world. They started their activities to build up their power and make humans aware of them, with the goal of corrupting mankind. Streams often play on this setup. They regularly remind viewers and other VTubers that they are a devil to be feared and respected. However, they never actually show off the great physical strength or magical abilities they claim to have, and this running joke is a big part of their humor.

Debidebi Debiru is also known for their frequent collaborations with other VTubers, both inside and outside NIJISANJI. Profiles of the character describe them as one of the friendliest and most approachable members of the agency. In collaborations, other VTubers often end up treating the would-be scary demon more like a mascot or a pet, which adds to the comedy.

Characteristics

Debidebi Debiru looks like a small, cat-like demon. They have horns, demon wings, a tail, claws, fur, black sclera and yellow eyes. The character describes themself as part of a demon species that has no gender. Their speech and self-presentation are meant to sound threatening, but the high, cute voice and mascot-like design usually have the opposite effect. That contrast is what the character is best known for. The Virtual YouTuber Fandom wiki and similar profiles list them as an animal-type and demon VTuber.
