Career

Charlotte Shimamura's YouTube channel was created on July 8, 2018, and she debuted as a virtual YouTuber on July 24, 2018. She debuted as a member of HoneyStrap, a group under 774 inc. Her fellow members included Patra Suou, Mary Saionji, Eli Sougetsu and Mico Sekishiro. She was also part of the upd8 project. HoneyStrap was later disbanded and its members were merged into the main agency, and she has continued her activities as a 774 inc. talent.

Because she came from HoneyStrap, most of her collaboration partners have been VTubers from groups under 774 inc., and she often appears in their chat streams. She has played Minecraft with Kuku Kazami and appeared as a guest on Haneru's show Much Ado About V. On November 29, 2021, she was announced as one of the many VTubers taking part in the VILLS concert hosted by VShojo.

She has also released music as a solo singer. Her digital single Trimming Island came out on November 4, 2019, and Aoiro no Ashita e followed on November 11, 2024.

Activities

Streaming style

Her content mainly consists of gaming and music. She is best known for her Minecraft streams, which she has held twice a week. These streams are credited with introducing more viewers to the game. Most of her gaming streams are Minecraft, but she has also played PUBG: Battlegrounds, Mario Kart, agar.io, Pokémon and Overcooked 2, and some of these streams included VTubers from Nijisanji. With Mary Saionji, she hosts the radio-style program Late night with Mary and Char. She has also appeared in one of Mary Saionji's ASMR videos and sang in HoneyStrap's Halloween song.

Characteristics

Her character has long black hair, brown eyes and lightly tanned skin. Her outfit includes a blue miniskirt with a white frilled edge and a diagonal black and gold belt. Other group members and viewers often call her an "angel" because she is very considerate and kind. She dislikes the nickname and insists that she is a demon, saying she wants to be seen as cool and devilish. She has named VTubers such as Shizuka Rin as people she admires. To shake off the angel image, she has sometimes posted short videos titled "Evil deed of the day," but these have mostly backfired.

She considers herself the straight man of the group, yet some of her comments have earned her a reputation as a natural airhead. She has said she finds acting and singing very embarrassing. She knows little about otaku subculture compared with many other virtual YouTubers. She is known for being weak with kanji and the Japanese language but strong at math. Although her name sounds the most English of the HoneyStrap members, she has little experience with English. At one point she did not know how to write the group's original English name.
