Career
Ui Nema held her first live stream on March 22, 2019, as a member of Okinawa Club. The agency is run by the Ashibi Company, an entertainment company based in Naha, the prefectural capital of Okinawa. She became popular in Okinawa and began working with local public institutions to promote the prefecture.
From October 4 to December 27, 2020, she starred in her own television show on Okinawa Television. It aired every Sunday evening for 13 episodes, and she has also appeared on several other programs on the same network. For the 2021 tax return period, the Okinawa National Tax Office appointed her as the official ambassador for its mobile tax return and cashless payment services.
On March 4, 2022, Japan Post released a set of stamps featuring Ui Nema. The stamps were sold at only three post offices in Naha. On December 20, 2022, she served as chief of Naha Police Station for one day and called for an end to drunk driving, which typically rises in Okinawa during the New Year period.
On January 29, 2025, the Okinawa Prefectural Police appointed her as a public relations officer. She said she was happy and honoured by the appointment and that she would focus on crime prevention and road safety. Okinawa's police chief, Tanaka Mami, said she expected Ui Nema's involvement to help the police reach people across a wide range of age groups and to support a safe and secure Okinawa.
Activities
Streaming style
Ui Nema's live streams and videos focus on Ryukyuan culture, including local cuisine and tourist attractions in Okinawa. Because of this regional focus, her online activities connect closely with her tourism promotion work for the prefecture.

Characteristics
Cafu Te of the Ashibi Company designed Ui Nema's character model. Her given name, Ui, comes from the Japanese words uiuishii, meaning "innocent", and kawaii, meaning "cute". Her surname, Nema, is a name from Miyako Island in Okinawa Prefecture. Her focus on Okinawa and her ambassador and public relations roles for local institutions make her an example of a VTuber used for regional promotion and public outreach.
