Career

Nobuhime Oda's YouTube channel was created on March 8, 2018, and her career as a VTuber began in April 2018. She became widely known through her posts on Twitter and YouTube. In an interview with pixivision, she said she received her first work offer on the third day of her VTuber career. She was later associated with upd8, a VTuber support project, and VTuber databases list her under that group.

In August 2018 she uploaded an English-language video, "Hello! World!", in which she introduced herself to international viewers as a virtual YouTuber from Japan. During her career she also became one of the most supported creators on pixivFANBOX, the fan-subscription platform run by pixiv, and discussed this in her pixivision interview about earning a living as a VTuber. In that interview she said she hoped to help grow demand across the VTuber industry, make it easier for newcomers to start, and "leave my mark in history."

She kept releasing videos into 2020, including song covers and game videos. Her last stream was a retirement broadcast on April 30, 2020, which ended her activities as a VTuber.

Activities

Streaming style

Most of Nobuhime Oda's content was in Japanese and consisted of recorded videos and live broadcasts. Her game content included comedic challenge formats. One example was a Splatoon video released in April 2020, in which she ate wasabi in proportion to the amount of ink applied during a match. Her persona drew on the language and imagery of Sengoku-period warfare. She opened her videos with the greeting "Ohaikusa," which she explained as meaning "Good morning, battlefield." She also produced some English content for international audiences.

Music and works

Characteristics

The character is a young woman partly modeled on Oda Nobunaga, with pink hair and purple eyes. She is described as being 150 cm tall, and her setting birthday is June 23. Her self-presentation used warrior themes, and pixivision described her as fighting against "modern warlords in the virtual land." In her interview she called her audience the "Oda army" and set a goal of growing it to one million people. Her support on pixivFANBOX placed her among the platform's top-tier creators, and she was cited as an example of a VTuber who made fan-funded creative work pay.
